Metaverse . . . wait . . . Meta what? What are you talking about? Site description? Or that movie about a game?
Many discussions where made already about who came first: the chicken or the egg? I will not add nothing to this discussion but it takes me to the main trend right now, besides Covid-19: the Metaverse.
Day by day, it is becoming easier to envision and participate
in the next phase of the Internet.
So, what is the Metaverse?
Basically, and from my understanding, with the Metaverse you have the possibility to exist as one digital entity and to have a digital experience in a virtual world, like a Second Life.
Matthew Ball is now the a trending person due to to his view of the Metaverse from the moment that Mark Zuckerberg enter the discussion and from that, the multiverse of possibilities and scenarios present themselves within the Metaverse.
Damn, even the marketing guru Neil Patel speaks about the many new markets and business linked to Metaverse.
Fiction drives the human condition or technology allows fiction to become reality and evolution?
Virtual reality and /or digital presence are a well known concept for some of us, and from the top of my head, Hollywood has made sure of it that the virtual data carried in Johnny Mnemonic’s head, was more valuable than human life.
I do also remember that time where Arnie on “Total Recall”, he’s overwhelmed expression when seeing the Recall Incorporated ad passing on the Metro, about the possibility to buy cheap and safer way, the memories of the best vacation without ever being in holidays…

Our future started yesterday and is now present
Tempering with the human mind is still like one big uncharted territory and just few persons have the basic knowledge and expertise to really try to explain the complexity of the chemical and electrical exchanges between our neurons.
The most recent and trending news on the media, the case of Philip O’Keefe, 62, from Australia that became the first person to tweet a message using his brain, thanks to tiny brain implant.
So, are you still a non-believer in technology and human curiosity that is driven by it? I’m not and over this last few years, I became more and more curious about the subject.

This one didn’t surprise me. Elon Musk is always 2 steps ahead in the way of thinking about our reality, so no surprise that: “Elon Musk’s brain chip prepares for first-ever human trials.”
My take on Metaverse
I don’t want to mislead anyone, you should also do your research, but for me, the closest representation of this virtual reality was portrayed by the character “Kevin Flynn” in the movie “Tron” and more recent times, in the “Oasis” from the film “Ready Player One”.
The character of “Wade Watts” uses the Oasis as an escape from his real and grey world. Meaning that although in real life, he belongs to a less superior working class with no chance to prevail among his peers, the digital entity he becomes, allows and gives him the tools to fight those that seem superior and, spoiler alert*, becomes the most powerful.
He is the relentless “underdog” that he uses in the best way possible, the tools that he has, against others that seem to be way better prepared in all levels, just because they can afford to buy special tools/armory to suit better their profile, but proven that money is important but not the key factor to win.
Like many others, Wade plays in Oasis against other digital profiles but he fights with heart and passion. He’s not driven by profits or money, having in mind the sense of altruism and empathy to fellow players.
So to be better, you can “buy” some upgrades that will allow you to perform better and faster.
I suppose that you use some extensions/add-ons to your Chrome, Edge or Safari/Firefox browsers? Why?
The easy answer is that the use of such “upgrades” allows you to write better and faster and with fewer mistakes, for ex.( although some tools are free, to get the complete experience and performance of the extension, you need to subscribe and pay a fee, to have the complete package).
Just use that analogy and put it in place in all the online games available to the kids, grownups, regardless of the gender, age, or nationality of the user… do you also see the niche market that is going to rise really soon?
Naturally, also all the negative parts that are also emerging from this deep dive in the human mind in the possibility of living and existing and dynamically in the digital universe…
Just remember “electric cars” and the explosion on the carmakers and electric automotive reality, still expensive but now quite common, was once thought as a big challenge just a decade ago.
Like many other truths from our past, it will be just a matter of time until this virtual world door explodes in our faces, saying: “Hello boys and girls, people of all ages, I’m here to serve you!”.
